Toucans
Toucans (Family: Ramphastidae) — Colorful tropical birds native to the rainforests of Central and South America, best known for their oversized, vividly colored bills. Despite their large appearance, a toucan’s bill is lightweight and helps with feeding, thermoregulation, and display.
Toucans are social, intelligent birds that live in small flocks in the wild. They are agile climbers rather than long-distance flyers and spend much of their time hopping between branches. Their diet is primarily fruit-based, though they also consume insects, eggs, and small prey. Toucans are expressive birds, communicating with croaks, clicks, and rattling calls rather than melodic songs.
